Save the vulnerable: increasing road safety for pedestrians, cyclists and motor cyclists
Road safety is an important element in providing the sustainability of transportation. Increasing the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and motor cyclists especially in urban areas will help to increase the number of people using these more eco-friendly modes of transport instead of using passenger cars. And without doubt reducing the numbers of deaths from road traffic accidents is itself an important goal.
In this Side Event, new ways and ideas to protect the unprotected road users will be presented. Among them, infrastructure measures, vehicle technology systems relating to active and passive safety, road safety education and legislation. The event will also focus on new kinds of vehicles such as pedelecs and electric bikes. Another topic will explore the potential of automated and semi-automated vehicles and technologies designed to connect road users.
