A CO2 Emissions Responsible Summit

Reducing the impact on the environment of the Summit is important to ITF. In this respect, ITF opts to offset the carbon (CO2) emissions generated by the Summit through investment in climate protection projects. The CO2 emissions are calculated based on the overall on-site activities as well as the flights of the ITF staff.

For their travel to Leipzig, Summit participants are encouraged to either use the offset options offered by their chosen airline or transport provider, or consider transport options that minimise emission generation.

The climate protection projects supported by ITF comply with Gold Standard of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) defined in the Kyoto Protocol and are awarded saving certificates CER (Certified Emission Reduction) by the UNFCCC. To implement the offset, the ITF co-operates with the climate protection organisation atmosfair.
